The 2002 Women's College World Series was held May 23 through May 27, 2002, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This was Oklahoma City's 12th time to host the WCWS since first hosting the tournament in 1990. Having advanced through a 32-team bracket, eight NCAA Division I college softball teams met at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium to decide the 2002 Softball National Championship: *Arizona *Arizona State *California *Florida State *Michigan *Nebraska *Oklahoma *UCLA Of these eight teams, five of them had to win their respective regional tournaments on the road in order to advance to Oklahoma City: Arizona, Arizona State, California, Nebraska, and UCLA. The Championship Game featured California and defending champion Arizona. This would be their 1st meeting in a Championship game, California's first time overall, and Arizona's tenth appearance. California would go on to win their first National Title.
